Refugees and Canadian society
A discussion evening was announced for June 20, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the IDÉES-AFRIQUE offices, 825 Rue Deslauriers, Saint-Laurent. “Building Bridges: Refugees and Canadian Society” invited reflection on welcome and the place of refugees.
Perspectives and experiences in dialogue
The programme combined a round table, a documentary screening, discussion, testimony and a reception. A discussion with Professor Ndeye Dieynaba Ndiaye of UQAM and contributions from Martin Ngaffi and Bernard Toyambi were also announced.
The gathering reflected the theme of a world that welcomes refugees. The programme included a joint statement by stakeholders and an opportunity to connect at the close.
Part of the first Afro-Canadian Refugee Week
From June 15 to 20, 2024, VACC organized the first Afro-Canadian Refugee Week in Montreal with IDÉES-AFRIQUE, Migrations et Vies and Fondation Magalie. The family day on June 15 and discussion evening on June 20 were two distinct activities within the same initiative.
